Garage finishing includes insulation, and it is one of the highest value square footage upgrades in a house because the space is already there. Exterior work includes pressure washing, because paint applied over chalked, dusty or mildewed siding fails early no matter how good the product is. Deck staining follows the same logic: the cleaning and the drying time decide how the stain looks in year three.

Can you match a texture that was painted over?
Usually yes. Painted texture reads slightly softer than bare texture, so the match is made against the wall as it is today rather than against a texture chart.
Do you paint just one room?
Yes. One room through a full house are both normal here, and a single room is often the fastest way to see whether you want to hire someone for the rest of it.
Is pressure washing included in exterior paint?
Yes. Exterior paint includes the pressure wash, because paint over a dirty or chalked surface fails early.
When is the right time of year to stain a deck?
Late spring through early fall in Indiana, scheduled around overnight temperature and dew point rather than the date on the calendar.
