OnCall builds fireplace surrounds in stone, tile and painted brick, with mantels, hearths and flanking built ins, including two story walls.
The surround is a framing job first
Stone and tile are the visible half. What holds them is framing, backer and a substrate that will not move, and a two story chase has to be planned before anything is faced.
Painted brick is a real option
A dated brick fireplace does not always need to be torn out. Painted or limewashed brick with a new mantel changes the room for a fraction of a rebuild, and it is frequently the right answer.
What is behind the finish
Clearances to combustibles, the hearth extension and how the surround meets the firebox are code questions before they are design questions. They are also invisible once the stone is on, which is exactly why they are worth asking a contractor about.
Any gas work is run by the licensed plumbing partner. The masonry, framing, mantel and finish are OnCall's.
How fireplace builds gets quoted
Fireplace Builds is measured on site. Grade, access, existing conditions and the things behind the walls all change the number, and none of them are visible in a photograph. OnCall walks the space, works through the design decisions with you, takes the dimensions and sends a detailed written bid rather than a range.
You review the quote with us: the scope, materials, pricing, options and anything that may be different from another bid, so you know exactly what you are comparing. A signature and a deposit put the work on the calendar. If something is found once a wall or the ground is open, it is priced and agreed before it is built rather than appearing at the end.

Can you paint an existing brick fireplace?
Yes, and it is one of the highest value changes in this category.
Can a TV go above it?
Usually, and the power and signal path gets planned at the same time. See TV mounting.
