Can you stamp an existing slab?

No, the stamp goes in while it is wet. An existing slab can be cleaned, stained and sealed instead.

Concrete cracks. The only question is whether it cracks where somebody decided it would. Control joints are cut on a spacing that suits the slab, and on a stamped patio their placement is a visual decision as well as a structural one because you will be looking at them for twenty years.

Reinforcement, thickness and base preparation are specified to the site rather than to a default, and they are the three things a cheap concrete quote reduces first.
